Our movie takes us to the Mariana Trench, located between Japan and Indonesia, known as the world’s deepest explored trench at 11 kilometers. The story revolves around a drilling operation at the bottom of the trench for petroleum and related resources. Things take a dark turn when a catastrophic accident occurs, and the movie focuses on the survival battle of the crew stationed at the drilling facility. First of all, the movie successfully kept me on edge, making me wonder, “What’s going to happen next?” Deep oceans and outer space—these two environments are eerily similar, and I absolutely adore movies that explore the dangers and mysteries of such extreme settings. When you combine science fiction with thriller, it creates an irresistible recipe for suspense and excitement. I have to admit, when I first watched the trailer, I was very excited, but seeing Kristen Stewart in the cast made me a bit hesitant. However, I was pleasantly surprised—she fit her role perfectly and didn’t feel out of place at all. A word of caution: if you have claustrophobia, this movie might be a challenging watch. The confined, underwater setting amplifies the tension. For maximum enjoyment, I suggest watching this movie in a dark room to fully immerse yourself in its atmosphere.
